Summer 1998 - Kevin Thumpston called to Redeemer PCA Raleigh as church planting apprentice to plant in downtown Raleigh
August 1998 - Kevin begins Rivendell Fellowship at NC State University (eventually becomes RUF)
Spring 1999- Christ our Comfort meets during the week in preparation for public launch
August 29th 1999 - Christ our Comfort holds its first public worship service on Oberlin Rd.
August 2000 - RUF at NC State launches under the leadership of 1st campus minister, Ben Inman
Summer 2001 - Christ our Comfort leases additional space on Oberlin Road to accommodate growth
February 2002 - Christ our Comfort elects elders and particularizes
Spring 2003 - Due to financial constraintsChrist our Comfort moves out of its Oberlin Road meeting space and begins meeting at the Hillsborough Street YMCA
June 2004 - Jeff Wilkins comes to Raleigh to serve as NCSU RUF’s second campus minister
January 2005 - Elders of Christ our Comfort submitted resignations and recommended that the church disband. The congregation voted to continue.
Spring 2005 - Stephen Smallman comes to serve as interim pastor
May 2005 - Elliot Grudem is called as Christ our Comfort’s second pastor
April 2006 - Christ our Comfort moved to the St. Savior’s Center on Tucker Ave. near Glenwood South
January 2007 - Christ our Comfort relaunches as Christ the King
October 2008 - CtK moves to Underwood Elementary School
April 2009 - CtK elects elders and particularizes
June 2009 - Chuck Askew comes to Raleigh to serve as NCSU RUF’s third campus minister
Easter 2011 - Geoff Bradford is called to serve as CtK’s third pastor
January 2012 - CtK holds it’s first worship service at City Market in downtown Raleigh
August 2013 - James Sutton is hired as Associate Pastor of Community Life
October 2014 - CtK elders commission members to plant Resurrection Life Church in Holly Spring with Mark Knetsch
March 2015 - CtK holds its first worship service at 117 S. West Street
June 2016 - CtK is awarded an “Antioch Fund” grant from the PCA to start LaMP seminary RDU
Winter 2017 - CtK launches “We Can’t” campaign to raise money for church planting, facilities, mercy ministry and children’s ministry.
February 2017- CtK elders commission members to plant Renewal Presbyterian Church in Northeast Raleigh with Duane Davis
Nov 2019 - CtK purchased the property at 1426 Wake Forest Road
March 2020 - Shifted to online services due to COVID 19
June 2020 - Started having outdoor services at the Wake Forest Road Property
September 2020 - CtK Elders commission members to plant Reconciliation Church in Southeast Raleigh with Russell McCutcheon
2022- CtK shifted from outdoor services to 2 Sunday services in the sanctuary of Wake Forest Road property
August 2023 - Moved to one service at Oberlin Road Middle School
June 2024 - Reconciliation Church petitions Eastern Carolina Presbytery to become a congregation of the PCA
June 2024 - CtK elects to move location for worship to Temple Baptist Church in Jan 2025
July 2024 - Paul Deschamps becomes the next Church Planting Resident of CtK
