What We Do
As a community of Christ's followers, we seek to live out a common mission: Demonstrate and declare the good news of Jesus in the places we live, work, and play. As we do that, we expect to see three things happen (what we call our vision):
People will be changed by Christ.
A community will be renewed by Christ.
A city will be transformed by Christ.
It's a big vision but we believe that God is bigger, Jesus is King, and the Holy Spirit is still at work. And we believe that responding to Jesus' call to follow him means we are placed in the middle of something much bigger than our little stories and our little adventures.
We believe Jesus allows us to be part of the story of the ages—the great story that all others point to: The story of King Jesus and his victory over sin, death, and hell's devil. It is the story of King Jesus and his current reign and rule over everything. And it is the story of King Jesus and his longed-for return when everything—and we mean everything—will be made right. Forever.
As Christ's followers, we believe Jesus has claimed us, our lives, and all our tomorrows as his own. We believe he has placed us right in the middle of his great story of making everything right. And so in light of that reality, we gather together on Sunday mornings and throughout the week to explore and express what it means to be a follower of Jesus, both as individuals and as a community.
And after we gather for worship, we scatter for service. That is, we constantly are seeking ways to love and serve Raleigh, the city we call home. We don't do this for our benefit or glory, but for the good of the city and the glory of God. That is, we aren't as interested in building a better church, as we are building a better city. In fact, we believe we will get a better church through a better city. (We find verses like Jeremiah 29:7 and 1 Peter 2:11-12 helpful here.)
