How We Do It
Historically (back to the church the Apostles started), churches have engaged in two primary ministries: preaching the word (the Bible) and administering the sacraments (baptism and the Lord's Supper). And so as we gather each Sunday, we want to make sure we do those things.
Our Sunday worship service is a time when followers of Jesus, those who don't know him, and those who are interested in knowing him, gather together to learn more about Jesus and more about themselves.
Through songs, prayers, sermons, and sacraments, we try to understand how the ancient story of Jesus can have application to and meaning in our present lives. (For more information on our Sunday services, click here.)
In addtion to our Sunday gatherings, we meet in smaller communities throughout the city during the week to talk about faith, discuss doubt, and try to discern together what the Bible says about the good news of Jesus Christ (what is often called the gospel). (For more information on our community groups, click here.)
As we learn about Jesus and his gospel message and as we experience the change he brings about in our lives, we find ourselves compelled to love and serve our community. That is, we want our labor, our leisure, and our personal lives to help our familes, our friends, our neighbors, and our neighborhoods become everything God designed them to be.
